I don't like to leave a job half-finished.

( That being said, her gaze follows the Inquisitor's... is it just her, or is her leader's quarters farther away than she remembers them being? She takes a moment to consider alternative option, and fortifies her resolve upon finding one.

Now grasping Cecily a little more tightly than necessary, she says: )

I will take you to my quarters instead.

( Cassandra would have never contemplated such an idea of her own volition, but when the Inquisitor makes the suggestion, it almost sounds... pleasant? She laughs softly at the mental image, before asking: )

How many of them were present at tonight's revelry? I would prefer not to clean any vomit off the floor of my sleeping quarters.

( There's Cassandra's trademark pragmatism bordering on idealism shining through again. Her other hand finds the small of the other woman's back for further support as they approach the armoury. )

She has an admirable work ethic.

( It is the most diplomatic thing Cassandra can think of to say in the moment, and privately, she thinks that Josephine would be pleased with her attempt.

The Inquisitor is right. Cassandra can be good at convincing people when it is necessary, but this hardly seems the right time to be applying that sort of pressure. She knows what people say about her, and while she won't hesitate to be the type of woman the Inquisition needs, she is only human, and she does care what others think of her. )

Perhaps another time.

( Despite herself, she finds herself curious about this gossip. As she begins to guide Cecily up the stairs, she adds: )

I hope Sera hasn't found herself in too much trouble.

Who, Sera?

( Cassandra's words are distracted as she focuses most of her attention on guiding the inebriated Inquisitor up the stairs. )

We've had some conversations here and there. I have the feeling we are very different people. ( Not that Cassandra's complaining, mind you, more that she doesn't get the younger woman, even if Cassandra does have a particular soft spot for Sera's crude jokes. )

Why do you ask?

( Cassandra raises an eyebrow, taking some comfort in the fact that they have finally reached the landing that leads onto her loft. )

Are you saying I have no sense of humour?

( Cassandra steers the Inquisitor towards the bed, more than happy to give it up for the evening. Maker knows she has slept on more uncomfortable places than the floor of a heated building. )

Not at all. ( A pause, and she laughs. ) So long as you remember that I might throw a pie at someone's face, should the situation require it.

It would have to be a custard pie, would it not? I believe that is what's considered traditional. As to who would deserve such treatment... I do not know. Varric, perhaps.

( Sensing the Inquisitor's resistance, Cassandra frowns. )

Is something the matter? I assure you the bed is comfortable enough.

( Cassandra snorts through her noise, more amused than angry. The floor is not exactly known for its pliability, but perhaps that had been the point. She pulls on one of the Inquisitor's arm. )

It is quite all right. I am accustomed to sleeping on the floor.

( The less said about pie-throwing, the better. )

( Undeterred, Cassandra pulls harder. )

Am I? ( An arched eyebrow. )

I am not the one making things more difficult for myself.

( Don't make her join you on the floor, Cecily! )

( In response to the Inquisitor's instruction, Cassandra drops her arm and leaves her on the floor. It's not long before she sits beside her, drawing her knees up to her chest.

Don't say she didn't warn you, Cecily. )

If you wanted to sleep on the floor, I could have left you at the tavern.

( Cassandra opens her mouth to say something along the lines of: no, for it to be truly fair, they should be sharing the bed, but fortunately she manages to stop herself before the thought escapes her. Where in the world had that come from?

Nonetheless, she is soon distracted by the Inquisitor making herself comfortable on the bed.

Cassandra arches an eyebrow as she scoots backwards to rest her back against the mattress. )

Here I thought you would never concede.
